Thirty-Seven Minutes to Take-Off

Hello, future people. This is my travel journal. My name is Kara M. I am currently in…well, no need to talk about that, let’s just say I’m well past middle-age unless I live to be 200 or so. I can hardly believe that I’ve gotten this old. I don’t feel my age. I just feel like me – except my knees and some of my joints are starting to rebel.

But I didn’t get this journal to talk about the total weirdness of entering my sixth decade of life. I got it – or more technically, my husband, D, got it – because I am about to take a big trip to France in (checks airport clock), 37 minutes, which is when we board the plane. Earlier, I said to D., “I should write down some memories of my trip.” Or, pre-memories because I’m not there yet. So, he bought it for me. He’s a good guy.

Anyway, my close friend, DO, is living in Bordeaux. She has been living there for seven years now with her husband, also DO. I need to think of better initials for real people. So, I’m going to see her for the fourth time since she’s lived there.

This time is a long trip, though. I’ll be in France almost eight weeks. Most of that time I’ll be taking a French Immersion Course with the “Alliance Française” in Bordeaux. I’m both nervous and excited. I’ll talk about that later.

Well, it’s getting closer to boarding – 20 minutes now – so, I’ll end this entry and write more later. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I should be in Paris is about nine hours.

À Bientôt!
